I sometimes forget that many people don’t understand exactly what a wedding planner or coordinator does and how this service is so valuable. My days are filled with sourcing the right wedding pros, reading their contracts, listening to the desires of the couple, finding the out-of-the-ordinary requested entertainment, keeping everyone on budget, generating timelines and task lists. But, if you have never planned an event of this importance, it can be overwhelming!

I was thinking about some of the things that we do on a pretty regular basis that you won’t see in a company brochure. You can see why some aren’t listed there:

● Take Rover, the ring bearer pup, off for his meal and potty breaks
● Super glue broken heels
● Steam wrinkled dresses that were stuffed in a duffel bag
● Take off own earrings for a mother of the groom who forgot hers
● Sews bridesmaid’s dress when zipper breaks during pre-wedding photos
● Rakes up animal droppings in outdoor venues
● Handles tipsy family “uncle” with tact and humor
● Has fave beverages waiting for couple as they finish photos and head to their Grand Entrance

We have emergency boxes filled with things from personal unmentionables to tools that vendors borrow when they need them.  In our emergency boxes you can find such things as: readers for Dad who left his glasses in the hotel room (and can’t read his toast), cuff links, socks, garters, pain reliever, stain remover, corkscrews, extension cords, and so much more that we now carry several boxes. We carry snacks for couples who forget to eat before they come to get ready, chargers for phones, more kinds of tape and glue than you could imagine, and cleaning supplies in case we arrive to a venue that isn’t properly ready for us. My job is often behind the scenes. Think of a stage play and all the people that are behind the curtain making sure that what goes on in front is beautiful, on time and on budget. That’s Celebration Boulevard!
